George Fisher, President, called the annual meeting to
order at 1:00 PM. It was held at the Fire Station 1, District community room/disaster
center. Twenty two people were present.
George Fisher introduced the current STLC officers and directors as well as our attorney, Steve Goodman. Directors present: George Fisher, Audrey O’Connor, Dennis Rohn, Pamela Tiede and Tom Tiede, Vickie World, Tom Golden, and Duane Landsverk.
The minutes were made available of the previous annual meeting as well as the current treasurer report. There were no corrections, or additions to the minutes. A motion was made to accept both reports; it was seconded and passed with none opposed.
George Fisher announced that director Ken Heim was unable to continue in this position, and George asked for nominations to fill this vacancy. We are happy to have Joe Smith-Steward from Division 1 volunteer his service. A motion was made and seconded and the vote passed with none opposed, to accept Joe and the current slate of Directors. |

George Fisher still continues to attend the Watershed
resource inventory Area 16 meetings, and invited others interested to also attend.
New Business
George stated the lake level as of Friday June 8, 2007
to be 731 feet. He passed out current pictures of the docks and recreation parks
from several divisions; most of the floating docks are not floating at this time.
Attorney Steve Goodman stated that there is a temporary
agreement to have the lake full from May 31 to September; the level of 735-738 feet
is in the current version of the FERC license now, but Tacoma thus far has rejected.
There’s no lake level foot number in our lease. The tribe and Tacoma City are trying
to settle their differences.
The Tribe wants water for the salmon. Tacoma wants water
for power. We the STLC want a full lake level in the summer. The DC Circuit Court
has remanded the license to FERC to incorporate the flow conditions, a flow of 240
cubic feet per second (cfs)
or lesser; what flows in would be released, which has
an impact on us and the community business. Steve also stated there will be a change
of administration in 2008 and hopefully they would be favorable to our interests.
The current federal administration is more likely in favor of outcomes that would
benefit our position. Both Tacoma Power and the Tribe want to put an end to this
conflict, in which they have been working on since April 2007. The Lake levels,
however, are not part of their negotiations.
If this conflict is settled, and adopted and finalized,
the new lease would be for 40 years. The # 1 issue to homeowners and STLC would
be the summer lake level of 735-738. If the lease is signed, there are still some
provisions and conditions of the license that could be re-opened. We would still
want to evaluate our involvement; we are the shield to protect the lake.
Several questions were answered by those in attendance,
including putting public pressure on the City of Tacoma to keep this operation going,
with our interests in mind.
Those in attendance were thanked for coming and asked
to direct any questions or comments to the STLC directors, or the website. We will
pass these on to our attorney for his advisement. Also a big thanks to Bill Sostrich
for keeping our website updated.
The meeting was adjourned at 2:15 PM
Respectfully submitted,
Vickie World for Eileen Fisher, Secretary
