WRIA - Watershed Resource Inventory Area

Monthly meetings are held at the PUD 1 conference room in Potlatch, WA. A representative of STLC attends as many meetings as possible. One of the primary responsibilities for the Watershed Management Act is to provide a framework for local citizens, interested groups and government organizations to collaboratively identify and solve water-related issues in each of the 62 WRIAs in Washington.

WRIA 16 planning unit continues to meet to discuss methods to advise the public of water quality and quantity issues affecting our area.  They recently expanded the mission to include dissolved oxygen levels in Hood Canal and how it is affecting sea life.  One problem may be pollution from fertilizer runoff and another may be by failing septic systems.
